A special place to remember loved ones.

Glen Eden Memorial Park built and administers The Redeemer Columbarium at Lutheran Church of The Redeemer in Birmingham, where the increased preference for cremation has made it possible to renew the age-old tradition of burial of church members on church property.

The Columbarium is an arrangement of niches into which an urn, containing cremated remains is permanently placed. This contemplative, brick-finished Columbarium Garden was built to compliment the façade of the church building, which itself is modeled after the Martha-Mary Chapel at Greenfield Village. Featuring elegant trees, flowering shrubs and benches for visiting family and friends, the focal point of the Garden area is a majestic bronze sculpture of Christ the Redeemer. Principally for members of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, the columbarium is also open to all Christians, as is Glen Eden.

CREMATION NICHES

Where Memories Endure
The walls of the Redeemer Columbarium Garden, located to the west of the church sanctuary, contain cremation niches with facings of rich, red granite. Affixed to the granite are bronze plaques engraved with inscriptions of the deceased. The majority of the spaces at the Redeemer Columbarium are companion niches, designed for the permanent placement of two urns of cremated remains. There are also a limited number of individual niches for single purchasers.

A CENOTAPH AT REDEEMER
